Cape Drepano/Drepanun
A 25 minute drive from Paphos harbour, head west along tomb of the kings, past Coral bay, keep heading along the same road, until you find the little fishing harbour at Cape Drepano.
As you pull into the large car park at the top of the cape, you are faced with a fantastic view from the top of the cliff, overlooking the very quaint fishing harbour, there is also a beautiful small chapel, coffee shop, pottery shop and fish restaurant.
Cape Drepano according to historians was once a busy roman port. Drepano/Drepany means crescent, and this is obviously why they named this little bay exactly that.
In the cliffside are a series of catacombs, supporting the fact that a large colony once occupied the area, originally a much larger monastery was also built here, now replaced by the small chapel, an archaeological site office is open for more information
In the pictures you can see Yeronisos island, occupied at various point in history, (a shrine to Apollo), archaeological artefacts of pottery , jewellery etc have been found here.
A super place to explore, the views are fantastic the quaint little chapel of Saint George is light and airy, and whilst compact well worth a look, adjacent is a small coffee shop, and across the way is the St George fish restaurant with amazing views and sunsets to die for.
